20Jun2020 - 1st day of Certified Voice Artist Program. I finally met the Voice Master himself Pocholo De Leon Gonzales. The Voice Master started the training (1st Session) on building the proper mindset. He made sure that before engaging on our future endeavors, we have the proper mindset as a Voice Artist. He also emphasized the difference of being a Voice Artist Vs being a Voice Talent.
The Voice Artist do voice overs for passion, for the art and for the craft.
The Voice Talent do voice overs for money alone.
The Myths on Voice Acting was also discussed (Maling Akala): 1. Having a good voice can already make you a voice artist. 2. You need to be good at imitating voices. 3. There is an age limit to being a Voice Artist. 4. All you need to do is to earn money, and read a script and talk.
Voice Artist Requirement: 1. Proper Speaking Voice (Energy, Volume, Clarity). 2. Knows how to read. 3. Knows how to follow instructions. 4. Willing to invest in Time Energy Ability/Availability and Money (TEAM).
Characteristics that need to be developed: 1. Creativity and Imagination. 2. Willing to go crazy. 3. Mental Toughness. 4. Team Player. The Voice Master also reminded as to not lose our day job.
Day 1 was packed with a lot of learning not only on Voice Acting but also about life and self/personal development. I was also blessed that I became part of the CVAP batch 1 because, I was surrounded by great people. Almost all of my classmates already had their experience in Voice Acting, but I never felt being left behind, because in CVAP, we help each other and lift each other up.
